Fatty Liver Disease –Causes, Types and Symptoms



The liver is the body’s most active organ. It performs several functions including flushing out toxins, deaminating of proteins and producing bile. The liver is more like a workhorse constantly in action to ensure all functions are diligently executed. Unfortunately, the liver faces a lot of threat which jeopardizes its ability to function efficiently. Most of these conditions include liver cancer, cirrhosis and fatty liver disease alcohol which is caused by excessive drinking.
In simple terms, fatty liver disease is a condition where fat builds up around the liver. Fortunately, these fat tissues pose no threat of inflammation to liver cells and can be addressed to reduce the risk of causing liver damage.



Types Of Fatty Liver Disease
There are majorly two types of fatty liver disease – alcohol induced and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Fatty liver disease affects nearly one – third of American adults and is one of the significant causing liver failure. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is commonly found in those who are overweight or sedentary and those who consume a highly processed diet.
One important method to treat fatty liver disease symptoms, regardless of type, is with some fatty Ingredient. As the name implies, fatty liver disease means you probably have excess fat in your liver. In a healthy body, the liver helps to eradicate toxins and produces bile, the digestive protein. The fatty liver disease symptoms cause pain, damage to the liver and prevent it from working as well as it should.
Several factors may contribute to or cause fatty liver disease symptoms;
  1. Insulin resistance; resistance to insulin and high insulin levels have been proven to increase liver fat storage in people with type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
  2. Excess Belly Fat; people with healthy weight may develop fatty liver disease symptoms, especially if they are “viscerally obese,” meaning they carry excess fat around their waist.
  3. High intake of refined Carbs; frequent consumption of refined carbs promotes the storage of liver fats, which will lead to fatty liver disease and this occurs especially when overweight or insulin resistant individuals consume high amounts.
  4. Obesity; this involves a low-grade inflammation that is likely to promote liver fat storage. It’s estimated that 30 – 90% of obese adults have Non – alcoholic fatty liver disease, and this number is increasing in children due to the childhood obesity epidemic.
  5. Impaired Gut Health; according to recent research, having an unstable situation in the gut bacteria, this may cause problems with Gut barrier function (“leaky gut”), or other gut health issues may be as a result to contribution to NAFLD development stages.
  6. High sugary consumption beverage; Sugar-sweetened beverages such as high fructose energy drinks and soda, which has been proven to drive liver fat accumulation in children and adults.
